To make the widget debugfs files more informative, add a line showing the
widget type string.
Keeping backward compatibility is nice to have being debugfs, and ease of
parsing by both humans and software is also good. To maximize both with a
reasonable effort add a new line without thouching the already complex
format of the first line. The syntax is meant to be a key/value pair.
The existing vizdapm tool continues working after this change, ignoring the
new line.
The new format is:
Left ADC: Off in 1 out 0 - R2(0x2) mask 0x2
stream Left HiFi Capture inactive
widget-type adc
out "static" "Capture" "cs42l51.0-004a"
in "static" "Left PGA" "cs42l51.0-004a"

debugfs entries for DAPM widgets have the following form:
Left ADC: Off in 1 out 0 - R2(0x2) mask 0x2
stream Left HiFi Capture inactive
out "static" "Capture"
in "static" "Left PGA"
Lines with the "in" and "out" prefixes describe routes from/to other
widgets presenting the path name and the connected widget name.
This is ambiguous in case of cards having multiple widgets with the same
name in different components. For example the STM32MP157A-DK1 board
(arch/arm/boot/dts/st/stm32mp15xx-dkx.dtsi) has a "Capture" widget in both
the "cs42l51.0-004a" and the "hdmi-audio-codec.1.auto" components.
Avoid the ambiguity by adding the component name to the "in" and "out"
lines. Add the new field at the end to minimize backward compatibility
issues. The existing vizdapm tool continues working after this change.
The output becomes:
Left ADC: Off in 1 out 0 - R2(0x2) mask 0x2
stream Left HiFi Capture inactive
out "static" "Capture" "cs42l51.0-004a"
in "static" "Left PGA" "cs42l51.0-004a"

There are clearly multiple calls, one per component, but they cannot be
discriminated from each other.
Change the ftrace events to also print the component name, to make it clear
which part of the code is involved. This requires changing the passed value
from a struct snd_soc_card, where the DAPM context is not kwown, to a
struct snd_soc_dapm_context where it is obviously known but the a card
pointer is also available.
With this change, the resulting trace becomes:

Current ASoC CPU:Codec = N:M connection is using connection mapping idea,
but it is used for N < M case only. We want to use it for any case.
By this patch, not only N:M connection, but all existing connection
(1:1, 1:N, N:N) will use same connection mapping. Then, because it will
use default mapping, no conversion patch is needed to exising drivers.
More over, CPU:Codec = N:M (N > M) also supported in the same time.

Prepare for the coming implementation by GCC and Clang of the __counted_by
attribute. Flexible array members annotated with __counted_by can have
their accesses bounds-checked at run-time via CONFIG_UBSAN_BOUNDS (for
array indexing) and CONFIG_FORTIFY_SOURCE (for strcpy/memcpy-family
functions).
As found with Coccinelle[1], add __counted_by for struct snd_soc_dapm_widget_list.
Additionally, since the element count member must be set before accessing
the annotated flexible array member, move its initialization earlier.

The existing soc-dapm code may add a prefix to control names, which in
some cases is useful but in others leads to long and confusing kcontrol
names such as "gain 2.1 Main Playback Volume".
This patch suggests an added flag to prevent the widget name prefix
from being added. That flag will be set in the topology file on a
per-widget basis.
The flag no_wname_in_kcontrol_name is added to struct snd_soc_dapm_widget,
and the logic in dapm_create_or_share_kcontrol() is changed to not to
add widget name if the flag is set.

Currently, ASoC supports dailinks with the following mappings:
1 cpu DAI to N codec DAIs
N cpu DAIs to N codec DAIs
But the mapping between N cpu DAIs and M codec DAIs is not supported.
The reason is that we didn't have a mechanism to map cpu and codec DAIs
This patch suggests a new snd_soc_dai_link_codec_ch_map struct in
struct snd_soc_dai_link{} which provides codec DAI to cpu DAI mapping
information used to implement N cpu DAIs to M codec DAIs
support.
When a dailink contains two or more cpu DAIs, we should set channel
number of cpus based on its channel mask. The new struct also provides
channel mask information for each codec and we can construct the cpu
channel mask by combining all codec channel masks which map to the cpu.
The N:M mapping is however restricted to the N <= M case due to physical
restrictions on a time-multiplexed bus such as I2S/TDM, AC97, SoundWire
and HDaudio.

When a widget is added to dapm via snd_soc_dapm_new_widgets,
dapm_debugfs_add_widget is also called to create a corresponding debugfs
file. However, when a widget is freed by snd_soc_dapm_free_widget, the
corresponding debugfs is not cleared. As a result, the freed widget is
still seen in the dapm directory.
This patch adds dapm_debugfs_free_widget to free the debugfs of a

up the debugfs for freed widget.

soc.h has snd_soc_dapm_mutex_lock/unlock() definition and
many drivers are using it, but soc-dapm.c is not.
1st reason is snd_soc_dapm_mutex_lock/unlock() requests
snd_soc_dapm_context pointer as parameter (A), but sometimes soc-dapm.c
needs to use snd_soc_card (B).
(A) static inline void snd_soc_dapm_mutex_lock(struct snd_soc_dapm_context *dapm)
{
mutex_lock_nested(&dapm->card->dapm_mutex, SND_SOC_DAPM_CLASS_RUNTIME);
} ^^^^^^^^^^
(B) mutex_lock_nested(&card->dapm_mutex, SND_SOC_DAPM_CLASS_RUNTIME);
^^^^
2nd reason is it want to use SND_SOC_DAPM_CLASS_INIT for mutex_lock_nested(),
but helper is using _RUNTIME (A).
The conclusion is we want to use "dapm vs card" and "_RUNTIME vs _INIT"
for dapm lock/unlock. To enable this selfish request, this patch uses
_Generic macro. We can use snd_soc_dapm_mutex_lock/unlock() for both
dapm and card case.
snd_soc_dapm_mutex_lock(dapm); snd_soc_dapm_mutex_unlock(dapm);
snd_soc_dapm_mutex_lock(card); snd_soc_dapm_mutex_unlock(card);
Current soc-dapm.c is using both mutex_lock() and mutex_lock_nested().
This patch handles mutex_lock() as mutex_lock_nested(..., 0),
in other words, handles below as same.
mutex_lock(&card->dapm_mutex);
mutex_lock_nested(&card->dapm_mutex, SND_SOC_DAPM_CLASS_INIT);
Because people might misunderstand that _init() is mutex initialization,
this patch renames _INIT to _ROOT and adds new
snd_soc_dapm_mutex_lock_root() for it.
This patch also moves snd_soc_dapm_subclass definition from soc-dapm.h
to soc.h to keep related code together.
Because very complex soc.h vs soc-dapm.h relationship,
it is difficult/impossible to define these helper into soc-dapm.h.

dapm_connect_dai_pair() handles
"Normal/Codec2Codec" x "CPU/Codec" x "Playback/Capture".
(A) is "Codec2Codec" case of "CPU" widget x "Playback/Capture",
(B) is "Normal" case of "CPU" widget x "Playback/Capture",
(C) is each case of "Codec" widget.

(X) part and (Y) part are almost same.

The difference is "parameter"

Currently we sequence speakers with line and headphone outputs in DAPM.
This works well when speakers are integrate into a CODEC but when there is
an external speaker driver connected to a line or headphone output it can
mean that the speaker driver ends up getting sequenced such that it picks
up pops and clicks from the CODEC. Mask this by moving speakers after the
other outputs in DAPM.
We may want to consider doing this for headphones too but separate drivers
are less common there and headphone drivers often also function as line
outputs so the situation is less clear.

snd_soc_dapm_new_dai() setups local variable "template" at (X) and (Y),
which is used at (Z). But these are difficult to read.
static struct snd_soc_dapm_widget * snd_soc_dapm_new_dai()
{
...
^ template.reg = ...
| template.id = ...
(X) template.name = ...
| template.event = ...
| template.event_flags = ...
v template.kcontrol_news = ...
if (rtd->dai_link->num_params > 1) {
...
^ template.num_kcontrols = ...
(Y) template.kcontrol_news = ...
v ...
}
...
(Z) w = snd_soc_dapm_new_control_unlocked(..., &template);
}
And this function has error message, but not for all cases.
This patch (1) setups "template" in one place, and indicate error message
for all cases. This patch cleanup the code, but nothing changed for
meaning.

DAPM keeps a copy of the current value of mux/demux controls,
however this value is only initialised in the case of autodisable
controls. This leads to false notification events when first
modifying a DAPM kcontrol that has a non-zero default.
Autodisable controls are left as they are, since they already
initialise the value, and there would be more work required to
support autodisable muxes where the first option isn't disabled
and/or that isn't the default.
Technically this issue could affect mixer/switch elements as well,
although not on any of the devices I am currently running. There
is also a little more work to do to address the issue there due to
that side supporting stereo controls, so that has not been tackled
in this patch.

DAPM tracks and reports the value presented to the user from DAPM controls
separately to the register value, these may diverge during initialisation
or when an autodisable control is in use.
When writing DAPM controls we currently report that a change has occurred
if either the DAPM value or the value stored in the register has changed,
meaning that if the two are out of sync we may appear to report a spurious
event to userspace. Since we use this folded in value for nothing other
than the value reported to userspace simply drop the folding in of the
register change.

These two bug are here:
list_for_each_entry_safe_continue(w, n, list,
power_list);
list_for_each_entry_safe_continue(w, n, list,
power_list);
After the list_for_each_entry_safe_continue() exits, the list iterator
will always be a bogus pointer which point to an invalid struct objdect
containing HEAD member. The funciton poniter 'w->event' will be a
invalid value which can lead to a control-flow hijack if the 'w' can be
controlled.
The original intention was to continue the outer list_for_each_entry_safe()
loop with the same entry if w->event is NULL, but misunderstanding the
meaning of list_for_each_entry_safe_continue().
So just add a 'continue;' to fix the bug.

To allow for more flexibility i.e. populating component DAIs dynamically
during its initialization, without being limited to topology loading
procedure, expose snd_soc_register(), snd_soc_dapm_new_dai_widgets() and
snd_soc_dapm_free_widget() functions.
Allows users to first check available resources e.g. number of PCMs
supported by HDAudio codec before allocating the number of DAPM
widgets needed. This prevents superfluous objects from being created or
allows driver to adjust to situation when resources are limited.
