2024-07-09wifi: mt76: mt762x: extend mt76_connac_mcu_sta_basic_tlv for per-link STASean Wang
Extend mt76_connac_mcu_sta_basic_tlv with the per-link STA configuration. The patch we created is a prerequisite to enable the MLO function in the driver. It is purely a refactoring patch so the functionality should remain unchanged. 2024-06-20wifi: mt76: un-embedd netdev from mt76_devBreno Leitao
Embedding net_device into structures prohibits the usage of flexible arrays in the net_device structure. For more details, see the discussion at [1]. Un-embed the net_devices from struct mt76_dev by converting them into pointers, and allocating them dynamically. Use the leverage alloc_netdev_dummy() to allocate the net_device object at mt76_dma_init(). The free of the device occurs at mt76_dma_cleanup(). 2023-12-07wifi: mt76: mt7921s: fix workqueue problem causes STA association failWang Zhao
The ieee80211_queue_work function queues work into the mac80211 local->workqueue, which is widely used for mac80211 internal work processes. In the mt76 driver, both the mt76-sido-status and mt76-sdio-net threads enqueue workers to the workqueue with this function. However, in some cases, when two workers are enqueued to the workqueue almost simultaneously, the second worker may not be scheduled immediately and may get stuck for a while. This can cause timing issues. To avoid these timing conflicts caused by worker scheduling, replace the worker with an independent thread. 2023-12-07wifi: mt76: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidUwe Kleine-König
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new(), which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted, .remove_new() will be renamed to .remove(). Trivially convert the three mt76 drivers from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. When drv_tx calls race against local tx scheduling, the queue fill status checks can potentially race, leading to dma queue entries being overwritten. Fix this by deferring packets from drv_tx calls to the tx worker, in order to ensure that all regular queue tx comes from the same context. A mouse that uses a USB connection is called a "USB mouse" device (or "USB mouse" for short), not a "mouse USB" device. By analogy, a WiFi adapter that connects to the host computer via USB is a "USB wireless" device, not a "wireless USB" device. (The latter term more properly refers to a defunct Wireless USB specification, which described a technology for sending USB protocol messages over an ultra wideband radio link.) Similarly for a WiFi adapter card that plugs into a PCIe slot: It is a "PCIe wireless" device, not a "wireless PCIe" device. Rephrase the text in the kernel source where the word ordering is wrong. 2023-08-02wifi: mt76: Replace strlcpy() with strscpy()Azeem Shaikh
strlcpy() reads the entire source buffer first. This read may exceed the destination size limit. This is both inefficient and can lead to linear read overflows if a source string is not NUL-terminated [1]. In an effort to remove strlcpy() completely [2], replace strlcpy() here with strscpy(). Direct replacement is safe here since DEV_ASSIGN is only used by TRACE macros and the return values are ignored. The Group ID Management frame is an Action frame of category VHT. It is transmitted by the AP to assign or change the user position of a STA for one or more group IDs. Also, sniffer can use a given group id to monitor STA that belongs to that group. Notify underlying driver of changes via BSS_CHANGED_MU_GROUPS. Checking the relevant rxd bits for the checksum information only indicates if the checksum verification was performed by the hardware and doesn't show actual checksum errors. Checksum errors are indicated in the info field of the DMA descriptor. Fix packets erroneously marked as CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY by checking the extra bits as well. Those bits are only passed to the driver for MMIO devices at the moment, so limit checksum offload to those. 2022-10-11wifi: mt76: fix receiving LLC packets on mt7615/mt7915Felix Fietkau
When 802.3 decap offload is enabled, the hardware indicates header translation failure, whenever either the LLC-SNAP header was not found, or a VLAN header with an unregcognized tag is present. In that case, the hardware inserts a 2-byte length fields after the MAC addresses. For VLAN packets, this tag needs to be removed. However, for 802.3 LLC packets, the length bytes should be preserved, since there is no separate ethertype field in the data. This fixes an issue where the length field was omitted for LLC frames, causing them to be malformed after hardware decap.
