2015-03-19PCI: Assign resources before drivers claim devices (pci_scan_root_bus())Yijing Wang
Previously, pci_scan_root_bus() created a root PCI bus, enumerated the devices on it, and called pci_bus_add_devices(), which made the devices available for drivers to claim them. Most callers assigned resources to devices after pci_scan_root_bus() returns, which may be after drivers have claimed the devices. This is incorrect; the PCI core should not change device resources while a driver is managing the device. Remove pci_bus_add_devices() from pci_scan_root_bus() and do it after any resource assignment in the callers. Note that ARM's pci_common_init_dev() already called pci_bus_add_devices() after pci_scan_root_bus(), so we only need to remove the first call: pci_common_init_dev pcibios_init_hw pci_scan_root_bus pci_bus_add_devices # first call pci_bus_assign_resources pci_bus_add_devices # second call [bhelgaas: changelog, drop "root_bus" var in alpha common_init_pci(), return failure earlier in mn10300, add "return" in x86 pcibios_scan_root(), return early if xtensa platform_pcibios_fixup() fails] Signed-off-by: Yijing Wang <wangyijing@huawei.com> Signed-off-by: Bjorn Helgaas <bhelgaas@google.com> CC: Richard Henderson <rth@twiddle.net> CC: Ivan Kokshaysky <ink@jurassic.park.msu.ru> CC: Matt Turner <mattst88@gmail.com> CC: David Howells <dhowells@redhat.com> CC: Tony Luck <tony.luck@intel.com> CC: Michal Simek <monstr@monstr.eu> CC: Ralf Baechle <ralf@linux-mips.org> CC: Koichi Yasutake <yasutake.koichi@jp.panasonic.com> CC: Sebastian Ott <sebott@linux.vnet.ibm.com> CC: "David S. 2013-01-03ARCH: drivers remove __dev* attributes.Greg Kroah-Hartman
This fixes up all of the smaller arches that had __dev* markings for their platform-specific drivers. CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As a result, the __dev* markings need to be removed. This change removes the use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata, __devinitconst, and __devexit from these drivers. Based on patches originally written by Bill Pemberton, but redone by me in order to handle some of the coding style issues better, by hand. Remove the __init annotations in order to keep pci_fixup_irqs() around after init (e.g. for hotplug). lib: use generic pci_iomap on all architectures Many architectures don't want to pull in iomap.c, so they ended up duplicating pci_iomap from that file. That function isn't trivial, and we are going to modify it https://lkml.org/lkml/2011/11/14/183 so the duplication hurts. This reduces the scope of the problem significantly, by moving pci_iomap to a separate file and referencing that from all architectures. * tag 'for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/mst/vhost: alpha: drop pci_iomap/pci_iounmap from pci-noop.c mn10300: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP mn10300: add missing __iomap markers frv: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP tile: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP tile: don't panic on iomap sparc: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP sh: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP powerpc: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP parisc: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP mips: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP microblaze: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP arm: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP alpha: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP lib: add GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP lib: move GENERIC_IOMAP to lib/Kconfig Fix up trivial conflicts due to changes nearby in arch/{m68k,score}/Kconfig
2012-01-06PCI: TILE: convert pcibios_set_master() to a non-inlined functionMyron Stowe
This patch converts TILE's architecture-specific 'pcibios_set_master()' routine to a non-inlined function. This will allow follow on patches to create a generic 'pcibios_set_master()' function using the '__weak' attribute which can be used by all architectures as a default which, if necessary, can then be over-ridden by architecture-specific code. Converting 'pci_bios_set_master()' to a non-inlined function will allow TILE's 'pcibios_set_master()' implementation to remain architecture-specific after the generic version is introduced and thus, not change current behavior. No functional change. Acked-by: Chris Metcalf <cmetcalf@tilera.com> Signed-off-by: Myron Stowe <myron.stowe@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Jesse Barnes <jbarnes@virtuousgeek.org>

2010-11-24pci root complex: support for tile architectureChris Metcalf
This change enables PCI root complex support for TILEPro. Unlike TILE-Gx, TILEPro has no support for memory-mapped I/O, so the PCI support consists of hypervisor upcalls for PIO, DMA, etc. However, the performance is fine for the devices we have tested with so far (1Gb Ethernet, SATA, etc.). The <asm/io.h> header was tweaked to be a little bit more aggressive about disabling attempts to map/unmap IO port space. The hacky <asm/pci-bridge.h> header was rolled into the <asm/pci.h> header and the result was simplified. Both of the latter two headers were preliminary versions not meant for release before now - oh well. There is one quirk for our TILEmpower platform, which accidentally negotiates up to 5GT and needs to be kicked down to 2.5GT. Signed-off-by: Chris Metcalf <cmetcalf@tilera.com>
