2018-06-15docs: Fix some broken referencesMauro Carvalho Chehab
As we move stuff around, some doc references are broken. Fix some of them via this script: ./scripts/documentation-file-ref-check --fix Manually checked if the produced result is valid, removing a few false-positives. 2017-06-12ALSA: seq: Allow the modular sequencer registrationTakashi Iwai
Many drivers bind the sequencer stuff in off-load by another driver module, so that it's loaded only on demand. In the current code, this mechanism doesn't work when the driver is built-in while the sequencer is module. We check with IS_REACHABLE() and enable only when the sequencer is in the same level of build. However, this is basically a overshoot. The binder code (snd-seq-device) is an individual module from the sequencer core (snd-seq), and we just have to make the former a built-in while keeping the latter a module for allowing the scenario like the above. This patch achieves that by rewriting Kconfig slightly. Now, a driver that provides the manual sequencer device binding should select CONFIG_SND_SEQ_DEVICE in a way as select SND_SEQ_DEVICE if SND_SEQUENCER != n Note that the "!=n" is needed here to avoid the influence of the sequencer core is module while the driver is built-in. Also, since rawmidi.o may be linked with snd_seq_device.o when built-in, we have to shuffle the code to make the linker happy. (the kernel linker isn't smart enough yet to handle such a case.) That is, snd_seq_device.c is moved to sound/core from sound/core/seq, as well as Makefile. Last but not least, the patch replaces the code using IS_REACHABLE() with IS_ENABLED(), since now the condition meets always when enabled. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2017-06-09ALSA: seq: Reorganize kconfig and buildTakashi Iwai
This is a slightly intensive rewrite of Kconfig and Makefile about ALSA sequencer stuff. The first major change is that the kconfig items for the sequencer are moved to sound/core/seq/Kconfig. OK, that's easy. The substantial change is that, instead of hackish top-level module selection in Makefile, we define a Kconfig item for each sequencer module. The driver that requires such sequencer components select exclusively the kconfig items. This is more straightforward and standard way. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>

This config item has not carried much meaning for a while now and is almost always enabled by default. As agreed during the Linux kernel summit, remove it. Signed-off-by: Kees Cook <keescook@chromium.org> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2012-03-30Documentation: remove references to /etc/modprobe.confLucas De Marchi
Usage of /etc/modprobe.conf file was deprecated by module-init-tools and is no longer parsed by new kmod tool. References to this file are replaced in Documentation, comments and Kconfig according to the context. There are also some references to the old /etc/modules.conf from 2.4 kernels that are being removed. 2010-08-09ALSA: introduce the snd-aloop module for the PCM loopbackJaroslav Kysela
The snd-aloop module allows redirecting of the PCM playback in the kernel back to the user space using the standard ALSA PCM capture API. The module also allows time synchronization with another timing source and notifications of playback stream parameter changes. Signed-off-by: Jaroslav Kysela <perex@perex.cz>

2008-01-31[ALSA] Xilinx ML403 AC97 Controller Reference device driverJoachim Foerster
Add ALSA support for the opb_ac97_controller_ref_v1_00_a ip core found in Xilinx' ML403 reference design. Known issue: Currently this driver hits a WARN_ON_ONCE(1) statement in kernel/irq/resend.c (line 70). According to Linus (http://lkml.org/lkml/2007/8/5/5) this may be ignored, right? Commit 2d4ba4a3b9aef95d328d74a17ae84f8d658059e2 introduced a dependency that was never meant to exist when the ac97_bus.c module was created. 2006-09-23[ALSA] Add experimental support of aggressive AC97 power-saving modeTakashi Iwai
Added CONFIG_SND_AC97_POWER_SAVE kernel config to enable the support of aggressive AC97 power-saving mode. In this mode, the AC97 powerdown register bits are dynamically controlled at each open/close of PCM streams. The mode is activated via power_save option for snd-ac97-codec driver. As default it's off. It can be turned on/off on the fly via sysfs, too. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Jaroslav Kysela <perex@suse.cz>

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
