2022-10-12mac802154: Drop IEEE802154_HW_RX_DROP_BAD_CKSUMMiquel Raynal
This IEEE802154_HW_RX_DROP_BAD_CKSUM flag was only used by hwsim to reflect the fact that it would not validate the checksum (FCS). So this was only useful while the only filtering level hwsim was capable of was "NONE". Now that the driver has been improved we no longer need this flag. 2022-06-10net: mac802154: Bring the ability to hold the transmit queueMiquel Raynal
Create a hold_txs atomic variable and increment/decrement it when relevant, ie. when we want to hold the queue or release it: currently all the "stopped" situations are suitable, but very soon we will more extensively use this feature for MLME purposes. Upon release, the atomic counter is decremented and checked. If it is back to 0, then the netif queue gets woken up. This makes the whole process fully transparent, provided that all the users of ieee802154_wake/stop_queue() now call ieee802154_hold/release_queue() instead. In no situation individual drivers should call any of these helpers manually in order to avoid messing with the counters. There are other functions more suited for this purpose which have been introduced, such as the _xmit_complete() and _xmit_error() helpers which will handle all that for them. One advantage is that, as no more drivers call the stop/wake helpers directly, we can safely stop exporting them and only declare the hold/release ones in a header only accessible to the core. 2022-04-25net: mac802154: Create an error helper for asynchronous offloading errorsMiquel Raynal
A few drivers do the full transmit operation asynchronously, which means that a bus error that happens when forwarding the packet to the transmitter or a timeout happening when offloading the request to the transmitter will not be reported immediately. The solution in this case is to call this new helper to free the necessary resources, restart the queue and always return the same generic TRAC error code: IEEE802154_SYSTEM_ERROR. 2022-04-25net: mac802154: Create an offloaded transmission error helperMiquel Raynal
So far there is only a helper for successful transmissions, which led device drivers to implement their own handling in case of error. Unfortunately, we really need all the drivers to give the hand back to the core once they are done in order to be able to build a proper synchronous API. So let's create a _xmit_error() helper and take this opportunity to fill the new device-global field storing Tx statuses. 2022-01-28net: mac802154: Explain the use of ieee802154_wake/stop_queue()Miquel Raynal
It is not straightforward to the newcomer that a single skb can currently be sent at a time and that the internal process is to stop the queue when processing a frame before re-enabling it. Make this clear by documenting the ieee802154_wake/stop_queue() helpers. 2016-07-08ieee802154: 6lowpan: fix intra pan id checkAlexander Aring
The RIOT-OS stack does send intra-pan frames but don't set the intra pan flag inside the mac header. It seems this is valid frame addressing but inefficient. Anyway this patch adds a new function for intra pan addressing, doesn't matter if intra pan flag or source and destination are the same. 2016-02-23mac802154: fix mac header length checkAlexander Aring
I got report about that sometimes the WARN_ON occurs there which should never happen. I came to the conclusion that the mac header is there but inside the headroom of skb. The skb->len information doesn't contain the information about the headroom length and skb->len is lesser than two. We check now if the skb_mac_header pointer is set and the room between mac header pointer and tail pointer. 2015-10-216lowpan: cleanup lowpan_header_decompressAlexander Aring
This patch changes the lowpan_header_decompress function by removing inklayer related information from parameters. This is currently for supporting short and extended address for iphc handling in 802154. We don't support short address handling anyway right now, but there exists already code for handling short addresses in lowpan_header_decompress. The address parameters are also changed to a void pointer, so 6LoWPAN linklayer specific code can put complex structures as these parameters and cast it again inside the generic code by evaluating linklayer type before. The order is also changed by destination address at first and then source address, which is the same like all others functions where destination is always the first, memcpy, dev_hard_header, lowpan_header_compress, etc. This patch also moves the fetching of iphc values from 6LoWPAN linklayer specific code into the generic branch. 2015-09-30mac802154: check on len instead mac_lenAlexander Aring
This patch change the length check to len instead of mac_len for checking if the frame control field is available to dereference. We need to change it because I saw issues with af_packet raw sockets and the mrf24j40 which calls this functionality. The raw socket functionality doesn't set the mac_len but resets the skb_mac_header to skb->data which is still correct. The issue occur at mrf24j40 only, because the driver need to evaluate the fc fields. Signed-off-by: Alexander Aring <alex.aring@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Marcel Holtmann <marcel@holtmann.org>
2015-09-22ieee802154: change needed headroom/tailroomAlexander Aring
This patch cleanups needed_headroom, needed_tailroom and hard_header_len fields for wpan and lowpan interfaces. For wpan interfaces the worst case mac header len should be part of needed_headroom, currently this is set as hard_header_len, but hard_header_len should be set to the minimum header length which xmit call assumes and this is the minimum frame length of 802.15.4. The hard_header_len value will check inside send callbacl of AF_PACKET raw sockets. For lowpan interfaces, if fragmentation isn't needed the skb will call dev_hard_header for 802154 layer and queue it afterwards. This happens without new skb allocation, so we need the same headroom and tailroom lengths like 802154 inside 802154 6lowpan layer. At least we assume as minimum header length an ipv6 header size. 2015-05-19cfg802154: introduce wpan phy flagsAlexander Aring
This patch introduce a flag property for the wpan phy structure. The current flag settings in ieee802154_hw are accessable in mac802154 layer only which is okay for flags which indicates MAC handling which are done by phy. For real PHY layer settings like cca mode, transmit power, cca energy detection level. The difference between these flags are that the MAC handling flags are only handled in mac802154/HardMac layer e.g. on an interface up. The phy settings are direct netlink calls from nl802154 into the driver layer and the nl802154 need to have a chance to check if the driver supports this handling before sending to the next layer. We also check now on PHY flags while dumping and setting pib attributes. In comparing with MIB attributes the 802.15.4 gives us an default value which we assume when a transceiver implement less functionality. In case of MIB settings the nl802154 layer doesn't need to check on the ieee802154_hw flags then.
