2022-11-04bcma: Use the proper gpio includeLinus Walleij
The <linux/bcma/bcma_driver_chipcommon.h> is including the legacy header <linux/gpio.h> to obtain struct gpio_chip. Instead, include <linux/gpio/driver.h> where this struct is defined. It turns out that the brcm80211 brcmsmac depends on this to bring in the symbol gpio_is_valid(). The driver looks up the BCMA parent GPIO driver and checks that this succeeds, but then it goes on to use the deprecated GPIO call gpio_is_valid() to check the consistency of the .base member of the BCMA GPIO struct. The whole check can be dropped because the bcma_gpio is initialized in the declarations: struct gpio_chip *bcma_gpio = &cc_drv->gpio; And this can never be NULL. 2022-09-19wifi: brcmfmac: pcie: Read Apple OTP informationHector Martin
On Apple platforms, the One Time Programmable ROM in the Broadcom chips contains information about the specific board design (module, vendor, version) that is required to select the correct NVRAM file. Parse this OTP ROM and extract the required strings. Note that the user OTP offset/size is per-chip. This patch does not add any chips yet. 2019-01-09MIPS: BCM47XX: Setup struct device for the SoCRafał Miłecki
So far we never had any device registered for the SoC. This resulted in some small issues that we kept ignoring like: 1) Not working GPIOLIB_IRQCHIP (gpiochip_irqchip_add_key() failing) 2) Lack of proper tree in the /sys/devices/ 3) mips_dma_alloc_coherent() silently handling empty coherent_dma_mask Kernel 4.19 came with a lot of DMA changes and caused a regression on bcm47xx. Starting with the commit f8c55dc6e828 ("MIPS: use generic dma noncoherent ops for simple noncoherent platforms") DMA coherent allocations just fail. 2017-11-02License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no licenseGreg Kroah-Hartman
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was: - Files considered eligible had to be source code files. - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5 lines of source - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5 lines). All documentation files were explicitly excluded. The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license identifiers to apply. - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was considered to have no license information in it, and the top level COPYING file license applied. For non */uapi/* files that summary was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 11139 and resulted in the first patch in this series. If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930 and resulted in the second patch in this series. - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in it (per prior point). Results summary: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------ GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270 GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17 LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15 GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14 ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5 LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4 LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1 and that resulted in the third patch in this series. - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became the concluded license(s). - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a license but the other didn't, or they both detected different licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred. - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics). - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier, the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later in time. In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so they are related. Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks in about 15000 files. In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the correct identifier. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. 2016-08-18net: bgmac: support Ethernet core on BCM53573 SoCsRafał Miłecki
BCM53573 is a new series of Broadcom's SoCs. It's based on ARM and can be found in two packages (versions): BCM53573 and BCM47189. It shares some code with the Northstar family, but also requires some new quirks. First of all there can be up to 2 Ethernet cores on this SoC. If that is the case, they are connected to two different switch ports allowing some more complex/optimized setups. It seems the second unit doesn't come fully configured and requires some IRQ quirk. Other than that only the first core is connected to the PHY. For the second one we have to register fixed PHY (similarly to the Northstar), otherwise generic PHY driver would get some invalid info. This has been successfully tested on Tenda AC9 (BCM47189B0). Signed-off-by: Rafał Miłecki <rafal@milecki.pl> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2016-08-15USB: bcma: support old USB 2.0 controller on Northstar devicesRafał Miłecki
Currently bcma-hcd driver handles 3 different bcma cores: 1) BCMA_CORE_USB20_HOST (0x819) 2) BCMA_CORE_NS_USB20 (0x504) 3) BCMA_CORE_NS_USB30 (0x505) The first one was introduced years ago and so far was used on MIPS devices only. All Northstar (ARM) devices were using other two cores which allowed easy implementation of separated initialization paths. It seems however Broadcom decided to reuse this old USB 2.0 controller on some recently introduced cheaper Northstar BCM53573 SoCs. I noticed this on Tenda AC9 (based on BCM47189B0 belonging to BCM53573 family). There is no difference in this old controller core identification between MIPS and ARM devices: they share the same id and revision. We need different controller initialization procedure however. To handle this add a check for architecture and implement required initialization for ARM case. 2016-07-10x86/quirks: Add early quirk to reset Apple AirPort cardLukas Wunner
The EFI firmware on Macs contains a full-fledged network stack for downloading OS X images from osrecovery.apple.com. Unfortunately on Macs introduced 2011 and 2012, EFI brings up the Broadcom 4331 wireless card on every boot and leaves it enabled even after ExitBootServices has been called. The card continues to assert its IRQ line, causing spurious interrupts if the IRQ is shared. It also corrupts memory by DMAing received packets, allowing for remote code execution over the air. This only stops when a driver is loaded for the wireless card, which may be never if the driver is not installed or blacklisted. The issue seems to be constrained to the Broadcom 4331. Chris Milsted has verified that the newer Broadcom 4360 built into the MacBookPro11,3 (2013/2014) does not exhibit this behaviour. The chances that Apple will ever supply a firmware fix for the older machines appear to be zero. The solution is to reset the card on boot by writing to a reset bit in its mmio space. This must be done as an early quirk and not as a plain vanilla PCI quirk to successfully combat memory corruption by DMAed packets: Matthew Garrett found out in 2012 that the packets are written to EfiBootServicesData memory (http://mjg59.dreamwidth.org/11235.html). This type of memory is made available to the page allocator by efi_free_boot_services(). Plain vanilla PCI quirks run much later, in subsys initcall level. In-between a time window would be open for memory corruption. Random crashes occurring in this time window and attributed to DMAed packets have indeed been observed in the wild by Chris Bainbridge. When Matthew Garrett analyzed the memory corruption issue in 2012, he sought to fix it with a grub quirk which transitions the card to D3hot: http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/grub.git/commit/?id=9d34bb85da56 This approach does not help users with other bootloaders and while it may prevent DMAed packets, it does not cure the spurious interrupts emanating from the card. Unfortunately the card's mmio space is inaccessible in D3hot, so to reset it, we have to undo the effect of Matthew's grub patch and transition the card back to D0. Note that the quirk takes a few shortcuts to reduce the amount of code: The size of BAR 0 and the location of the PM capability is identical on all affected machines and therefore hardcoded. Only the address of BAR 0 differs between models. Also, it is assumed that the BCMA core currently mapped is the 802.11 core. The EFI driver seems to always take care of this. 2016-04-30phy: bcm-ns-usb2: new driver for USB 2.0 PHY on NorthstarRafał Miłecki
Northstar is a family of SoCs used in home routers. They have USB 2.0 and 3.0 controllers with PHYs that need to be properly initialized. This driver provides PHY init support in a generic way and can be bound with an EHCI controller driver. There are (just a few) registers being defined in bcma header. It's because DMU/CRU registers will be also needed in other drivers. We will need them e.g. in PCIe controller/PHY driver and at some point probably in clock driver for BCM53573 chipset. By using include/linux/bcma/ we avoid code duplication. Signed-off-by: Rafał Miłecki <zajec5@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Kishon Vijay Abraham I <kishon@ti.com>
2016-04-04mtd: bcm47xxsflash: use ioremap_cache() instead of KSEG0ADDR()Brian Norris
Using KSEG0ADDR makes code highly MIPS dependent and not portable. Thanks to the fix a68f376 ("MIPS: io.h: Define `ioremap_cache'") we can use ioremap_cache which is generic and supported on MIPS as well now. KSEG0ADDR was translating 0x1c000000 into 0x9c000000. With ioremap_cache we use MIPS's __ioremap (and then remap_area_pages). This results in different address (e.g. 0xc0080000) but it still should be cached as expected and it was successfully tested with BCM47186B0. Other than that drivers/bcma/driver_chipcommon_sflash.c nicely setups a struct resource for access window, but we wren't using it. Use it now and drop duplicated info. 2016-03-07bcma: move parallel flash support to separated fileRafał Miłecki
This follows the way of handling other flashes and cleans code a bit. As next task we will want to move flash code to ChipCommon driver as: 1) Flash controllers are accesible using ChipCommon registers 2) This code isn't MIPS specific This change prepares bcma for that. 2016-02-06bcma: support PMU present as separated bus coreRafał Miłecki
On recent Broadcom chipsets PMU is present as separated core and it can't be accessed using ChipCommon anymore as it fails with e.g.: [ 0.000577] Unhandled fault: external abort on non-linefetch (0x1008) at 0xf1000604 Solve it by using a new (PMU) core pointer set to ChipCommon or PMU depending on the hardware capabilities. 2016-02-06bcma: use _PMU_ in all names of PMU registersRafał Miłecki
PMU (Power Management Unit) seems to be a separated piece of hardware, just accessed using ChipCommon core registers. In recent Broadcom chipsets PMU is not bounded to CC but available as separated core. To make code cleaner & easier to review (for a correct R/W access) use clearer names. 2015-12-14mtd: bcm47xxnflash: really unregister NAND on device removalBrian Norris
The field bcma_nflash::mtd is never set to be non-zero anywhere, but we test for it in the removal path. So the MTD is never unregistered. Also, we should use nand_release(), not mtd_device_unregister(). Finally, we don't need to use the 'platdata' for stashing/retrieving our *driver* data -- that's what *_{get,set}_drvdata() are for. So, kill off bcm_nflash::mtd, and stash the struct bcm47xxnflash in drvdata instead. Also move the forward declaration of mtd_info up a bit, since struct bcma_sflash should be using it. Caught while inspecting other changes being made to this driver. Compile tested only.
