2016-07-31s390/zcrypt: fix possible memory leak in ap_module_init()Wei Yongjun

2016-07-31s390/zcrypt: Fix zcrypt suspend/resume behaviorIngo Tuchscherer
The device suspend call triggers all ap devices to fetch potentially available response messages from the queues. Therefore the corresponding zcrypt device, that is allocated asynchronously after ap device probing, needs to be fully prepared. This race condition could lead to uninitialized response buffers while trying to read from the queues. Introduce a new callback within the ap layer to get noticed when a zcrypt device is fully prepared. Additional checks prevent reading from devices that are not fully prepared. 2016-07-31s390/cio: fix premature wakeup during chp configureSebastian Ott
We store requests for channel path configure operations in an array but maintain an additional cfg_busy variable (indicating if we have requests stored in said array). When 2 tasks request a channel path configure operation cfg_busy could be set to 0 even if we still have unprocessed requests. This would lead to the second task being woken up although its request was not processed yet. Fix that by getting rid of cfg_busy and use the chp_cfg_task array in the wake up condition. 2016-07-31s390/cio: convert cfg_lock mutex to spinlockSebastian Ott
cfg_lock is never held long and we don't want to sleep while the lock is being held. Thus it can be converted to a simple spinlock. In addition we can now use the lock during the evaluation of a wake_up condition. 2016-07-28Merge tag 'libnvdimm-for-4.8' of ↵Linus Torvalds
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/nvdimm/nvdimm Pull libnvdimm updates from Dan Williams: - Replace pcommit with ADR / directed-flushing. The pcommit instruction, which has not shipped on any product, is deprecated. Instead, the requirement is that platforms implement either ADR, or provide one or more flush addresses per nvdimm. ADR (Asynchronous DRAM Refresh) flushes data in posted write buffers to the memory controller on a power-fail event. Flush addresses are defined in ACPI 6.x as an NVDIMM Firmware Interface Table (NFIT) sub-structure: "Flush Hint Address Structure". A flush hint is an mmio address that when written and fenced assures that all previous posted writes targeting a given dimm have been flushed to media. - On-demand ARS (address range scrub). Linux uses the results of the ACPI ARS commands to track bad blocks in pmem devices. When latent errors are detected we re-scrub the media to refresh the bad block list, userspace can also request a re-scrub at any time. - Support for the Microsoft DSM (device specific method) command format. - Support for EDK2/OVMF virtual disk device memory ranges. - Various fixes and cleanups across the subsystem. * tag 'libnvdimm-for-4.8' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/nvdimm/nvdimm: (41 commits) libnvdimm-btt: Delete an unnecessary check before the function call "__nd_device_register" nfit: do an ARS scrub on hitting a latent media error nfit: move to nfit/ sub-directory nfit, libnvdimm: allow an ARS scrub to be triggered on demand libnvdimm: register nvdimm_bus devices with an nd_bus driver pmem: clarify a debug print in pmem_clear_poison x86/insn: remove pcommit Revert "KVM: x86: add pcommit support" nfit, tools/testing/nvdimm/: unify shutdown paths libnvdimm: move ->module to struct nvdimm_bus_descriptor nfit: cleanup acpi_nfit_init calling convention nfit: fix _FIT evaluation memory leak + use after free tools/testing/nvdimm: add manufacturing_{date|location} dimm properties tools/testing/nvdimm: add virtual ramdisk range acpi, nfit: treat virtual ramdisk SPA as pmem region pmem: kill __pmem address space pmem: kill wmb_pmem() libnvdimm, pmem: use nvdimm_flush() for namespace I/O writes fs/dax: remove wmb_pmem() libnvdimm, pmem: flush posted-write queues on shutdown ...

2016-07-20block: add QUEUE_FLAG_DAX for devices to advertise their DAX supportToshi Kani
Currently, presence of direct_access() in block_device_operations indicates support of DAX on its block device. Because block_device_operations is instantiated with 'const', this DAX capablity may not be enabled conditinally. In preparation for supporting DAX to device-mapper devices, add QUEUE_FLAG_DAX to request_queue flags to advertise their DAX support. This will allow to set the DAX capability based on how mapped device is composed. 2016-07-18s390/cio/chp : Remove deprecated create_singlethread_workqueueBhaktipriya Shridhar
The workqueue "chp_wq" is involved in performing pending configure tasks for channel paths. It has a single work item(&cfg_work) and hence doesn't require ordering. Also, it is not being used on a memory reclaim path. Hence, the singlethreaded workqueue has been replaced with the use of system_wq. System workqueues have been able to handle high level of concurrency for a long time now and hence it's not required to have a singlethreaded workqueue just to gain concurrency. Unlike a dedicated per-cpu workqueue created with create_singlethread_workqueue(), system_wq allows multiple work items to overlap executions even on the same CPU; however, a per-cpu workqueue doesn't have any CPU locality or global ordering guarantee unless the target CPU is explicitly specified and thus the increase of local concurrency shouldn't make any difference. Prior to commit 1bc6664bdfb949bc69a08113801e7d6acbf6bc3f a call to enable_cmf for a device for which channel measurement was already enabled resulted in a reset of the measurement data. 2016-06-16qeth: omit outbound queue 3 for unicast packets in Priority Queuing on ↵Hans Wippel
HiperSockets On HiperSockets only outbound queues 0 to 2 are available for unicast packets. Current Priority Queuing implementation in the qeth driver puts outgoing packets in outbound queues 0 to 3. 2016-06-16qeth: improve set_features error handlingHans Wippel
The function set_features is called to configure network device features on the hardware. If errors occur, the network device features should reflect the changed hardware state and the function should return an error in order to notify the user. In case of an error, the current implementation does not necessarily save the changed hardware state in the network device features before an error is returned. This patch improves error handling by saving features, that could be changed, to the network device features before returning an error. If the device is not running, an additional check in fix_features removes features, that require hardware changes, before they are passed to set_features. Thus, the corresponding check was removed in set_features. Signed-off-by: Hans Wippel <hwippel@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Ursula Braun <ubraun@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2016-06-16qeth: add network device features for VLAN devicesHans Wippel
Network device features indicate the capabilities of network devices (e.g., TX checksum offloading and TSO) and their configuration state. Additional network device features (vlan_features) indicate for each network device, which capabilities can be used on VLAN devices, that are configured on the respective base network device. In the current qeth implementation, network device features are only set for the base network devices and not for the VLAN devices. Thus, features like TX checksum offloading cannot be used on VLAN devices. This patch adds network device features to vlan_features, so they can be used by VLAN devices. 2016-06-16qeth layer 2 and layer 3 common feature handlingThomas Richter
This patch introduces a common set of fix_features and set_features functions for layer 2 and layer 3. The RX, TX and TSO offload functionality on the OSA card is enabled using ethtool at user's request and not at device initialization as done before. For layer 3 the RX checksum offloading is disabled at device initialization time. 2016-06-16qeth: optimize IP handling in rx_mode callbackLakhvich Dmitriy
In layer3 mode of the qeth driver, multicast IP addresses from struct net_device and other type of IP addresses from other sources require mapping to the OSA-card. This patch simplifies the IP address mapping logic, and changes imple- mentation of ndo_set_rx_mode callback and ip notifier events. Addresses are stored in private hashtables instead of lists now. It allows hardware registration/removal for new/deleted multicast addresses only. 2016-06-13s390/time: LPAR offset handlingMartin Schwidefsky
It is possible to specify a user offset for the TOD clock, e.g. +2 hours. The TOD clock will carry this offset even if the clock is synchronized with STP. This makes the time stamps acquired with get_sync_clock() useless as another LPAR migth use a different TOD offset. Use the PTFF instrution to get the TOD epoch difference and subtract it from the TOD clock value to get a physical timestamp. As the epoch difference contains the sync check delta as well the LPAR offset value to the physical clock needs to be refreshed after each clock synchronization. 2016-06-13s390/cpuinfo: show dynamic and static cpu mhzHeiko Carstens
Show the dynamic and static cpu mhz of each cpu. Since these values are per cpu this requires a fundamental extension of the format of /proc/cpuinfo. Historically we had only a single line per cpu and a summary at the top of the file. This format is hardly extendible if we want to add more per cpu information. Therefore this patch adds per cpu blocks at the end of /proc/cpuinfo: cpu : 0 cpu Mhz dynamic : 5504 cpu Mhz static : 5504 cpu : 1 cpu Mhz dynamic : 5504 cpu Mhz static : 5504 cpu : 2 cpu Mhz dynamic : 5504 cpu Mhz static : 5504 cpu : 3 cpu Mhz dynamic : 5504 cpu Mhz static : 5504 Right now each block contains only the dynamic and static cpu mhz, but it can be easily extended like on every other architecture. This extension is supposed to be compatible with the old format.
