2018-03-16arch: remove blackfin portArnd Bergmann
The Analog Devices Blackfin port was added in 2007 and was rather active for a while, but all work on it has come to a standstill over time, as Analog have changed their product line-up. Aaron Wu confirmed that the architecture port is no longer relevant, and multiple people suggested removing blackfin independently because of some of its oddities like a non-working SMP port, and the amount of duplication between the chip variants, which cause extra work when doing cross-architecture changes. 2017-10-19blackfin: Fix local <asm/gpio.h> includesLinus Walleij
When making the pin control submenu globally visible, all kinds of oddities appear, in blackfin a few files were #including <linux/gpio.h> and relying on that to pull in <asm/gpio.h>. This was not working when pin control but not GPIOLIB was selected resulting in a breakage in allmodconfig. The code these files were using was still there and defined in <asm/gpio.h> just not pulle in from just including <linux/gpio.h> Simply add the required includes explicitly in the blackfin kernel core and everything compiles fine. Delete the use of the incorrect <linux/gpio.h> where possible. Add stubs to <asm/gpio.h> for the functions called from PM: these should probably also depend on !PINCTRL but since the global CONFIG_PM symbol is used to compile PM support, we need some more intrusive thing here, to be tested by Blackfin maintainers. 2017-03-02sched/headers: Prepare for new header dependencies before moving code to ↵Ingo Molnar
<linux/sched/debug.h> We are going to split <linux/sched/debug.h> out of <linux/sched.h>, which will have to be picked up from other headers and a couple of .c files. Create a trivial placeholder <linux/sched/debug.h> file that just maps to <linux/sched.h> to make this patch obviously correct and bisectable. Include the new header in the files that are going to need it. 2016-02-16gpio: Include linux/gpio.h instead of asm/gpio.hBjorn Helgaas
Most arches have an asm/gpio.h that merely includes linux/gpio.h. The others select ARCH_HAVE_CUSTOM_GPIO_H, and when that's selected, linux/gpio.h includes asm/gpio.h. Therefore, code should include linux/gpio.h instead of including asm/gpio.h directly. Remove includes of asm/gpio.h, adding an include of linux/gpio.h when necessary. 2014-10-15Merge branch 'for-3.18-consistent-ops' of ↵Linus Torvalds
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tj/percpu Pull percpu consistent-ops changes from Tejun Heo: "Way back, before the current percpu allocator was implemented, static and dynamic percpu memory areas were allocated and handled separately and had their own accessors. The distinction has been gone for many years now; however, the now duplicate two sets of accessors remained with the pointer based ones - this_cpu_*() - evolving various other operations over time. During the process, we also accumulated other inconsistent operations. This pull request contains Christoph's patches to clean up the duplicate accessor situation. __get_cpu_var() uses are replaced with with this_cpu_ptr() and __this_cpu_ptr() with raw_cpu_ptr(). Unfortunately, the former sometimes is tricky thanks to C being a bit messy with the distinction between lvalues and pointers, which led to a rather ugly solution for cpumask_var_t involving the introduction of this_cpu_cpumask_var_ptr(). This converts most of the uses but not all. Christoph will follow up with the remaining conversions in this merge window and hopefully remove the obsolete accessors" * 'for-3.18-consistent-ops' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tj/percpu: (38 commits) irqchip: Properly fetch the per cpu offset percpu: Resolve ambiguities in __get_cpu_var/cpumask_var_t -fix ia64: sn_nodepda cannot be assigned to after this_cpu conversion. 2014-08-26blackfin: Replace __get_cpu_var usesChristoph Lameter
__get_cpu_var() is used for multiple purposes in the kernel source. One of them is address calculation via the form &__get_cpu_var(x). This calculates the address for the instance of the percpu variable of the current processor based on an offset. Other use cases are for storing and retrieving data from the current processors percpu area. __get_cpu_var() can be used as an lvalue when writing data or on the right side of an assignment. __get_cpu_var() is defined as : #define __get_cpu_var(var) (*this_cpu_ptr(&(var))) __get_cpu_var() always only does an address determination. However, store and retrieve operations could use a segment prefix (or global register on other platforms) to avoid the address calculation. this_cpu_write() and this_cpu_read() can directly take an offset into a percpu area and use optimized assembly code to read and write per cpu variables. This patch converts __get_cpu_var into either an explicit address calculation using this_cpu_ptr() or into a use of this_cpu operations that use the offset. Thereby address calculations are avoided and less registers are used when code is generated. At the end of the patch set all uses of __get_cpu_var have been removed so the macro is removed too. The patch set includes passes over all arches as well. Once these operations are used throughout then specialized macros can be defined in non -x86 arches as well in order to optimize per cpu access by f.e. using a global register that may be set to the per cpu base. Transformations done to __get_cpu_var() 1. Determine the address of the percpu instance of the current processor. DEFINE_PER_CPU(int, y); int *x = &__get_cpu_var(y); Converts to int *x = this_cpu_ptr(&y); 2. Same as #1 but this time an array structure is involved. DEFINE_PER_CPU(int, y[20]); int *x = __get_cpu_var(y); Converts to int *x = this_cpu_ptr(y); 3. Retrieve the content of the current processors instance of a per cpu variable. DEFINE_PER_CPU(int, y); int x = __get_cpu_var(y) Converts to int x = __this_cpu_read(y); 4. Retrieve the content of a percpu struct DEFINE_PER_CPU(struct mystruct, y); struct mystruct x = __get_cpu_var(y); Converts to memcpy(&x, this_cpu_ptr(&y), sizeof(x)); 5. Assignment to a per cpu variable DEFINE_PER_CPU(int, y) __get_cpu_var(y) = x; Converts to __this_cpu_write(y, x); 6. Increment/Decrement etc of a per cpu variable DEFINE_PER_CPU(int, y); __get_cpu_var(y)++ Converts to __this_cpu_inc(y) CC: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org> Signed-off-by: Christoph Lameter <cl@linux.com> Signed-off-by: Tejun Heo <tj@kernel.org>

2013-07-14blackfin: delete __cpuinit usage from all blackfin filesPaul Gortmaker
The __cpuinit type of throwaway sections might have made sense some time ago when RAM was more constrained, but now the savings do not offset the cost and complications. For example, the fix in commit 5e427ec2d0 ("x86: Fix bit corruption at CPU resume time") is a good example of the nasty type of bugs that can be created with improper use of the various __init prefixes. After a discussion on LKML[1] it was decided that cpuinit should go the way of devinit and be phased out. Once all the users are gone, we can then finally remove the macros themselves from linux/init.h. Note that some harmless section mismatch warnings may result, since notify_cpu_starting() and cpu_up() are arch independent (kernel/cpu.c) are flagged as __cpuinit -- so if we remove the __cpuinit from arch specific callers, we will also get section mismatch warnings. As an intermediate step, we intend to turn the linux/init.h cpuinit content into no-ops as early as possible, since that will get rid of these warnings. In any case, they are temporary and harmless. This removes all the arch/blackfin uses of the __cpuinit macros from all C files. Currently blackfin does not have any __CPUINIT used in assembly files.
