2014-03-21ARM: EXYNOS: Consolidate exynos4 and exynos5 machine filesSachin Kamat
Since there is very little difference between these two files, they can be easily combined into one with necessary SoC checks. While at it also merge the common.c file into this as it does not have any other users. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/rafael/linux-pm Pull ACPI and power management updates from Rafael Wysocki: "As far as the number of commits goes, the top spot belongs to ACPI this time with cpufreq in the second position and a handful of PM core, PNP and cpuidle updates. They are fixes and cleanups mostly, as usual, with a couple of new features in the mix. The most visible change is probably that we will create struct acpi_device objects (visible in sysfs) for all devices represented in the ACPI tables regardless of their status and there will be a new sysfs attribute under those objects allowing user space to check that status via _STA. Consequently, ACPI device eject or generally hot-removal will not delete those objects, unless the table containing the corresponding namespace nodes is unloaded, which is extremely rare. Also ACPI container hotplug will be handled quite a bit differently and cpufreq will support CPU boost ("turbo") generically and not only in the acpi-cpufreq driver. Specifics: - ACPI core changes to make it create a struct acpi_device object for every device represented in the ACPI tables during all namespace scans regardless of the current status of that device. In accordance with this, ACPI hotplug operations will not delete those objects, unless the underlying ACPI tables go away. - On top of the above, new sysfs attribute for ACPI device objects allowing user space to check device status by triggering the execution of _STA for its ACPI object. From Srinivas Pandruvada. - ACPI core hotplug changes reducing code duplication, integrating the PCI root hotplug with the core and reworking container hotplug. - ACPI core simplifications making it use ACPI_COMPANION() in the code "glueing" ACPI device objects to "physical" devices. - ACPICA update to upstream version 20131218. This adds support for the DBG2 and PCCT tables to ACPICA, fixes some bugs and improves debug facilities. From Bob Moore, Lv Zheng and Betty Dall. - Init code change to carry out the early ACPI initialization earlier. That should allow us to use ACPI during the timekeeping initialization and possibly to simplify the EFI initialization too. From Chun-Yi Lee. - Clenups of the inclusions of ACPI headers in many places all over from Lv Zheng and Rashika Kheria (work in progress). - New helper for ACPI _DSM execution and rework of the code in drivers that uses _DSM to execute it via the new helper. clocksource_of_init Add entries to __clksrc_of_table so that Exynos MCT controller is discoverable using call to clocksource_of_init. Pull ARM SoC cleanups from Arnd Bergmann: "A large number of cleanups, all over the platforms. This is dominated largely by the Samsung platforms (s3c, s5p, exynos) and a few of the others moving code out of arch/arm into more appropriate subsystems. The clocksource and irqchip drivers are now abstracted to the point where platforms that are already cleaned up do not need to even specify the driver they use, it can all get configured from the device tree as we do for normal device drivers. The clocksource changes basically touch every single platform in the process. We further clean up the use of platform specific header files here, with the goal of turning more of the platforms over to being "multiplatform" enabled, which implies that they cannot expose their headers to architecture independent code any more. It is expected that no functional changes are part of the cleanup. Now that the only field in struct sys_timer is .init, delete the struct, and replace the machine descriptor .timer field with the initialization function itself. This will enable moving timer drivers into drivers/clocksource without having to place a public prototype of each struct sys_timer object into include/linux; the intent is to create a single of_clocksource_init() function that determines which timer driver to initialize by scanning the device dtree, much like the proposed irqchip_init() at: http://www.spinics.net/lists/arm-kernel/msg203686.html Includes mach-omap2 fixes from Igor Grinberg. 2012-11-28ARM: EXYNOS: Avoid early use of of_machine_is_compatible()Doug Anderson
The recent commit "ARM: EXYNOS: add support for EXYNOS5440 SoC" broke support for exynos5250 because of_machine_is_compatible() was used too early in the boot process. It also probably meant that the exynos5440 failed to use the proper iotable. Switch to use of_flat_dt_is_compatible() in both of these cases. The failure I was seeing in exynos5250 because of this was: Division by zero in kernel. 2012-10-01Merge tag 'multiplatform' of ↵Linus Torvalds
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc Pull ARM soc multiplatform enablement from Olof Johansson: "This is a pretty significant branch. It's the introduction of the first multiplatform support on ARM, and with this (and the later branch) merged, it is now possible to build one kernel that contains support for highbank, vexpress, mvebu, socfpga, and picoxcell. More platforms will be convered over in the next few releases. Two critical last things had to be done for this to be practical and possible: * Today each platform has its own include directory under mach-<mach>/include/mach/*, and traditionally that is where a lot of driver/platform shared definitions have gone, such as platform data structures. They now need to move out to a common location instead, and this branch moves a large number of those out to include/linux/platform_data. * Each platform used to list the device trees to compile for its boards in mach-<mach>/Makefile.boot. Both of the above changes will mean that there are some merge conflicts to come (and some to resolve here). It's a one-time move and once it settles in, we should be good for quite a while. Sorry for the overhead."
